How ABDM & Health ID Works in Cliniq Flo

A deep dive into every capability — built specifically for Indian clinic workflows.

Step 1

ABHA Health ID — Create at Registration

Create an ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID for any patient at the time of registration — using their Aadhaar, mobile number, or driving licence. The ABHA ID becomes the patient's unique health identifier across all ABDM-registered healthcare providers in India.

Patients who already have an ABHA ID can link their Cliniq Flo records to their existing ID — giving them a consolidated health record accessible through the ABDM PHR app.

Step 2

Health Facility Registry (HFR) Onboarding

Register your clinic on India's Health Facility Registry (HFR) through Cliniq Flo — establishing your clinic as a verified ABDM participant. HFR registration makes your clinic visible in the ABDM ecosystem and enables sharing health records with the national health stack.

Cliniq Flo's onboarding team guides you through the HFR registration process and ensures your clinic meets all NHA technical requirements.

Step 3

PHR Consent for Record Sharing

Before sharing any patient health record with the ABDM network, Cliniq Flo captures explicit patient consent — in line with the ABDM Health Data Management Policy. Patients can view, manage, and revoke their consent at any time through the PHR app.

Consent records are stored with timestamps and are fully auditable.

Step 4

FHIR R4 Health Record Generation

All clinical records — consultation notes, prescriptions, lab reports, discharge summaries — are generated in FHIR R4 format. This enables seamless sharing with any FHIR-compatible system in India and internationally, supporting continuity of care across providers.

Works for Your Specialty

See how different clinic types use ABDM & Health ID in their day-to-day practice.

Government & Charitable Clinics

Government-empanelled clinics use Cliniq Flo's ABDM integration to comply with NHA requirements — ABHA IDs created for every patient, HFR registered, and records shared with the national stack.

Referral Networks

Specialist referral networks use FHIR record sharing — the GP sends the patient's complete FHIR-formatted history to the specialist before the referral appointment, ensuring continuity of care.

Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY

Clinics empanelled under AB PM-JAY use Cliniq Flo to verify patient eligibility, process treatments under the scheme, and submit cashless claims in the required format.

Multi-Location Chains

Clinic chains with multiple branches use ABHA IDs as a unified patient identifier — a patient who visits any branch is recognised by their ABHA ID and their full history is accessible.

ABDM & Health ID — Frequently Asked Questions

Is ABDM integration mandatory for clinics in India?

ABDM integration is currently voluntary but is increasingly required for government empanelments, certain insurance tie-ups, and public sector contracts. Early adoption positions clinics advantageously as the national health stack matures.

What is the difference between ABHA and ABHAID?

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is the health account that stores a patient's health records. The ABHA ID (or ABHA Address) is the unique identifier — like an email address for health records. Cliniq Flo helps create and manage both.

Does Cliniq Flo charge extra for ABDM integration?

ABDM integration is included on the Professional and Enterprise plans at no additional charge. ABHA ID creation for patients is free as it uses the NHA's free API.

What happens to patient records if a patient revokes ABHA consent?

Cliniq Flo retains the patient's records within the clinic's own system — the revocation only withdraws permission for sharing via the ABDM network. The clinic's local record is unaffected.
